Well, if there is any movie that really brings your hopes up, itís Forrest Gump. You're either going to love or hate Forrest Gump, but to me itís a masterpiece. Tom Hanks is a true genius; he really studied the character of Forrest Gump. He makes you feel sorry for Gump as well as laughing and crying at Gumpís actions. I mean itís a DVD worth the buy because it is going to be a true classic and it already is one from the 90s. I think the special effects in the films are astounding. for those who have seen it, you will know what I mean! The script flows with a true elegance and the lines are memorable and extremely clever. You will find it hard not to enjoy this long movie that charts the whole of Forrest Gumpís life. The camera work is beautiful and the way the camera follows the feather as it follows is truly astounding.

The film is about the life of Forrest Gump (Tom Hanks) who is not the brightest kid in the class, but he has the kindest heart. Forrest Gump does not understand the ups and downs of life as a young Alabama kid, but as he grows up he become wiser to the world around him. He realises all the problems in the world and makes the people around him really appreciate life for what it is. The film actually goes through US history, which is amusing and sentimental.

The DVD has some great extras. The documentary, "Through the Eyes of Forrest Gump" really makes you realise all the hard work that went into the movie. There are interviews with the cast and crew telling on and off set stories. You can also learn how they got Lt. Dan Taylor (Gary Sinse) to look like he was missing his legs and the way did it was extremely clever. There are two discs of entertainment so you get value for your money. The extras go over everything from makeup to set design. There are the original trailers which are great for any die hard fan who wants to show their friends the movie.

There are some very insightful commentaries that explain the whole production of the movie and all the problems and interesting things that happened. The cast and crew appear on the commentaries and make some very interesting points about the movie. The thing that would make you want to watch the extras are the fact that they are very useful for this film. They are long extra features that tell you nearly everything you want to know about Forrest Gump. The picture quality is perfectly restored to picture perfect quality and same goes for the Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround sound!

I would recommend going to your local mall and purchasing this true masterpiece. You will find it hard not to like this movie and the fact that it can appeal to anyone means you will be recommending it to all of your friends. It is really worth its money as most stores will sell it for a very cheap price now, but I would be prepared to pay more. I think the thing that makes it so good is that you can watch it again and again and not get tired of it, because it is captivating genius. I hope you enjoy Forrest Gump just as much as I do!
